Stage Lighting Services are proud to support the #WeMakeEvents initiative to raise awareness and garner support for the events industry, as across the UK the events sector struggles to survive the ongoing Covid-19 Crisis.
More information below on how you can get involved and show your support at our day of action next Tuesday 11 August.
Please help if you are able.
#WeMakeEvents has reached RED ALERT. Thank you for all of your fantastic support so far. Hearing your stories and sharing your experiences is having an incredibly positive impact on the campaign.
Join us in Cardiff as part of the nationwide campaign for #WEMAKEEVENTS – RED ALERT on 11th August 2020 @ approx. 9pm – 9.30pm TBC
Live music, theatres, stadiums and arenas across Wales will be lit in red.
We are encouraging ALL involved in the arts across Wales and the entire UK to get involved, to get something going where you are and get together locally.
For those in Cardiff, we are coordinating our efforts by encouraging you industry professionals and venue staff to show the individuals behind the magic, the souls, who are currently being forgotten. So whether you’re a technician, front of house staff, an actor or a stage hand, ANYONE who works in events, live music, theatre is welcome to attend.
Can’t make it and want another way to get involved? We ask you to place a red light inside an empty van/truck/flightcase or simply join us in lighting your building in red and post the images to social media with the hash tag #wemakeevents
Once registered you will be allocated a venue to turn up at on Tuesday evening (in line with current Government guidance we will only be gathering in groups of no more than 30 persons)
We are also looking for a handful of local technicians to assist with the set up of lighting venues in red and we can support others wishing to be involved with equipment up to a 30 mile radius of Cardiff.
– PRE REGISTRATION REQUIRED – Please email wemakeeventscardiff@gmail.com The safety of all participants is priority during these unprecedented times. In Wales we are being asked to gather in no more than groups of 30 people and so locations will be sent out nearer to the time as to where you have been allocated. Please note pre-registration closes midday on Monday 10th August 2020.
– WEAR RED – We are asking everyone to please wear red. This doesn’t have to be a T-shirt, it can be a scarf, a hat, a dress, a shirt, anything, but we ask that you wear red and black preferably.
– KEEP SAFE – It is of upmost importance that we adhere to social distancing measures and keep 2m apart to create the right message in raising awareness for our industry. We also ask that you please bring and wear a face mask. If you have a red one that is preferable. Please also bring hand sanitizer and water.
– RECRUIT YOUR COLLEGUES AND FRIENDS – Share event posts and videos on social media.
– DOWNLOAD THE APP – Download an App to turn your phone in to a red flashlight.
App Store: “MyLight – Flashlight” Select red colour and rotate the colour to screen.
Google Play: “Colour Torch” Select red
On Tuesday 11 August the #WeMakeEvents – RED ALERT campaign is calling on the Government to ‘THROW US A LINE’ before we lose the talent and expertise that is the envy of the world. Across the country events will be happening to draw attention to the numbers of people and their livelihoods affected by the government closure of the events industry. Our industry was the first to stop and will most likely be the last to return.
We are asking for
1. Grants – not loans – made available to businesses in the events supply chain
2. Furlough scheme extended until the industry is back to work
3. Extension of the self-employed scheme, tailored towards the industry.
